INSTALLATION
The
package prices offered on this site are for basic information
on the costs associated with the purchase and installation
of a Kohler Residential Back-Up Generator. Although
many units are installed for these prices, the actual
price of your unit depends on certain factors that must
be verified before installation.
The
package comes in two major pieces, the generator and
the automatic transfer switch (ATS.) These two pieces
must be located according to your homes layout and certain
situations dictate their location. The generator must
be connected to the natural gas meter or the propane
tank for its fuel supply. It is a good idea to keep
this distance as short as possible for fuel line sizing,
and more importantly cost. The ATS must be connected
to the existing electrical supply panel and again, the
shorter the distance, usually the better and more cost
effective the installation. Additionally, the generator
and the ATS must be interconnected with electrical lines
for controls, battery charger, and service feeders.
The average home has the utilities close in proximity
but larger homes may not and some homes built in the
middle part of the previous century have utilities on
the opposite ends of the residence. The does not usually
present a problem, but it generally does add to the
cost of installation.
Keep
in mind that there are several different ways to install
a unit. Elite Power Systems takes into consideration all
aspects of different installation possibilities to keep
your overall costs within budget. We offer answers to
every situtation and accept guidance to what you want.
The final layout decision is yours to make as we want
you to have the perfect solution to your backup power
needs.
